Another new Plucker release awaits your testing!
Plucker 1.7.1, aka 1.8beta1 it up for grabs in diet, caffeine-free, low-sugar, Atkins-friendly formats.
Please remember that this is an "odd-numbered" release, and should be considered part of the "Unstable" Plucker series. Even-numbered releases are considered "Stable" releases. That being said, this release is entirely functional, and many of us have been running it every day on our Palm devices. Give it a try!
Any bugs you find, please report them in our bug tracker. Make sure to search existing bug reports for similar errors before posting a new bug report. Many times, bugs are reported in duplicate by several users because they didn't search the existing bugs reported for similar problems.

Setting up Pluck-Comics on Windows
Plucker excels at gathering and distilling news content for reading on the go, but how many out there are still carrying around that daily newspaper for the comics? Come on, hands up. Well, now, thanks to pluck-comics, you don't have to. This utility will allow you to grab comic strips from the net and prepare them for pluckering.
Since version 1.1, the full distribution of Plucker has included the pluck-comics tool, however, many users may not know that this program exists because it has no graphical interface. This short tutorial will show you how to install andconfigure this program under Windows.
Download it
Because pluck-comics doesn't directly interact with Plucker-Desktop or any of the distillers, it is not distributed in these packages, but mus ...

The maintainer/author of JPluck, Laurens M. Fridael, is no longer going to be adding code to the JPluck project, and it looks like he's giving up on it. Why? Read below for more details (copied from his announcement here):
January 07, 2004
State of JPluck...The bad news: I will not develop JPluck beyond the 2.0.x branch.
There, I've said it.
Is this the end of JPluck? No. I will continue to add bugfixes and minor changes to the 2.0.x branch over the next few months. If someone wants to take over and develop JPluck further that's fine with me. Be aware that the code is a mess at this point. (Some of it is truly em ...

Happy New Year! Plucker 1.6.2 and 1.7 are out!
Many issues were fixed in these two releases, and you can consider them as "bugfix" releases to the Plucker 1.6.1 codebase. You should upgrade immediately to 1.6.2 or later if you want the latest stable Plucker code running on your device.
Similar to Plucker 1.6.1, Plucker 1.6.2 closes several issues found by users and other developers of Plucker and Plucker projects.
Most of the changes in 1.6.2 are internal, and no major "features" were added. This is a cleanup and bugfix release. Below is a list of the fixes applied to this version.
Any bugs you find, please report them in our bug tracker. Make sure to search existing bug reports for similar errors before posting a new bug report. Many times, bugs are reported ...

Plucker 1.6.1 is out with lots of issues fixed..
Not even a month later, we have another Plucker version!
Plucker 1.6.1 follows closely on the tails of Plucker 1.6, and closes a lot of open issues reported by users and other developers working with Plucker and Plucker projects.

Plucker Electronic Books mini-HOWTO
Plucker Electronic Books HOWTO
Many people use Plucker to read electronic books, or "ebooks", but aren't always sure where to go to find them. There are many resources available that have free and open books you can fetch and read with Plucker. I'll try to go through some of the more-popular sites, and give you some examples describing how to Pluck them.
To begin with, you'll need to have Plucker installed (of course) and configured for your Palm device (colors, storage, and so on). Once that part is done, the rest is fairly simple.
Here are two of the more-popular "free" ebook and electronic text ("etext") sites you can use. I'll go through each of them and describe the best way to Pluck the content. They each have their own little quirks and options:

What? You don't have Plucker 1.6 yet?
Happy 5th Anniversary, Plucker! Just 5 years ago today, Plucker was released for the first time to the public.
And now, Plucker 1.6 is out, and is the best release thus far. There are many new features in this release, building on the success and feedback from users of previous Plucker releases.
Plucker now fully supports high-resolution screens (such as those found on Sony [such as the UX50], Handera, and newer Palm handhelds [such as the Tungsten T2 and Tungsten T3]), virtual graffiti (on some units), scale-to-fit, zoomed images, HTML tables, screen rotation, and more!
This is a monumental release!
From the Plucker 1.4 series onward, even-numbered releases are considered "stable", and odd-numbered releases are considered "unstable" (" ...

Testers wanted for Plucker 1.5
Please remember, this is an unstable release, and should not be used in production capacities. Consider this an "alpha" version of what will likely be in version 1.6.
This beta release does not include Plucker Desktop or any other GUI-based Plucker tools, other than the standard viewer, distiller, and documentation. If you require other components to test this build, please get them from CVS directly.

Pocket PC Viewer, Vade Mecum, version 0.3 Alpha
Version 0.3 alpha of Vade Mecum is now available.
Vade Mecum is a Plucker document reader for the Pocket PC. It does *not* support the new features of Plucker 1.4, but when finished should be completely compliant with Plucker 1.2.
Version 0.3 fixes various bugs, and adds the following new features:
- document categories
- filter the library list by document category
- delete documents via the library interface
- an alternative progress meter, drawn as a single line on one side of the screen, which indicates how much of the current page has been read
- exit Vade Mecum directly from the reader interface, and return again to where you left off
