As I looked for various options I came across a reader program for my palm on the church's website and various books of scripture and other manuals that you could download for reading using this reader program.

Shortly after this I came across Plucker and Project Gutenberg. I started using my palm to read all sorts of books and in doing so realized how much more powerful Plucker was than the free program offered by the church for reading scriptures on a palm.

The set of canonized scripture was also on the churches website in html format, although, due to the bulkiness of the index structure and some other problems, it was not very conducive to "plucking".

At this point I wrote a set of scripts to clean up the html and designed my own index structure and started plucking this localized set of scriptures. I was now able to read my scriptures and other church articles on my palm in Plucker. Things were wonderful.

There was still one problem. Most of the content on the church's website was copyrighted and permission for copying was only given for personal use. This meant I couldn't distribute what I had plucked for others to use. So instead I re-wrote my various scripts, made them reasonably user friendly, and am distributing these so others can easily extract content from lds.org themselves and read it on their Palm's using Plucker - The best offline HTML reader and e-book reader for Palm handheld devices.
